Intraday charts invite constant revision. A trendline that looked firm at 10:00 can look naïve by lunch. Our intensive therefore begins every participant on daily (or, for some futures, four-hour) structure before any lower-timeframe overlay.
Noise versus decision timeframe
If you enter and exit on the daily close, your primary trendlines should live there. Lower frames can refine timing later; they should not invent a conflicting channel that overrides the daily rails without a stated reason.
Printing helps
A printed daily sheet removes the scroll reflex. Students place two candidate lines, step back, and only then open the hourly chart to see whether a probe on the lower frame still respects the daily boundary.
Exception
Very short-term scalpers may reverse the order — but they are rarely our intensive audience. When they do attend, we still ask for one higher-timeframe anchor so the room shares a common map.
